The Eastern Region of Nepal was one of the former administrative divisions of Nepal before federal restructuring. It is known for its high Himalayan mountains, lush hills, tea gardens, rivers, and rich cultural diversity.
This region includes famous destinations such as Mount Kanchenjunga (8,586m), beautiful Ilam tea gardens, and the sacred Pathivara Temple in Taplejung. It is also home to the scenic Arun River Valley and parts of the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area.
The Eastern Region offers a mix of adventure trekking, religious pilgrimage sites, agriculture-based landscapes, and ethnic communities such as Rai, Limbu, and Sherpa. Today, under Nepal’s federal system, this area mainly falls under Province No. 1 (Koshi Province).
